I worked for months, working 12- hour days cleaning floors and tearing down wallpaper with one baby strapped to my back while the other babies were crawling inside the playpen. Ha! It was beginning to seem logical, however it was far from done. To furnish the home, it was going to be an enormous undertaking with regards to time and money. Also, I had to go out and shop for my most-loved items. To keep the cost within my means I took my sons with me to look for hidden treasures at estate sales. Every week, we would walk through estate and garage sales on Fridays and Saturdays buying a mixture of old and new pieces. I then spent my weekdays painting and sanding outside in our driveway. The look was similar to the picture below... This was when my interest in the restoration of furniture first began. Once our home was completed, I was unable to quit! There was an area on the market where I sold items. I was able to outgrow the area because I had numerous pieces I was able to use. The number of people who visited my home in just one weekend to purchase everything on the ground floor. Growing Days was founded in my home. Not only was my business expanding, but so was my sweet family too. Being a new mom, I found the right balance to both start my own business as well as become a great mother. Growing Days just seemed to be the right fit. My precious Nora arrived in the year 2013 and was our fourth child. I was thrilled with where my company was taking me, but I felt like I needed some time off. I took a break from creating furniture for vintage homes, and slowed down my pace to be at home to help my children. At the time, it was what I wanted. But after a short time the phone started getting busy. People were calling me and needing help with their interior decorating and home renovations. The majority of them had visited my house at the open houses that were held for furniture. The time flew by before I had a fully-fledged house renovation business. The first step was to take clients in a manner that I felt at ease with. It is likely that I'd have laughed had somebody had informed me that my business was going to be part of a forthcoming tv program in the DIY Network. When I look back, it still makes me smile.
