Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on 17 April 1973. However, she was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He was a chemical engineers for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother was a professor at a nearby university. In the hopes of following his father's path her graduation was an education in chemical engineering. To achieve her dream of becoming an actor, she moved to New York. She worked as a chef in an eatery in New York and was a part of Broadway productions. She had a cameo role in the television series "Felicity." (It is in this series that she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) Garner had her breakthrough with her romantic comedic film "13 Going on 30" in which she portrayed an teen trapped inside an adult's body. Garner chose Gary Winick for the role as director. The two continued working with each other on various projects until Winick died in 2011. Garner began his role as an ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. The program focuses on the importance of nutrition, literacy and early childhood education. Garner is a board member for this nonprofit organization since the year 2014. She promotes early learning for children. In her role as an ambassador, Garner visits often with families who are part of Early Steps to School Success, a program that coaches parents in how to assist youngsters in their learning.
