Laura Linney was one of the best American actors to emerge from the past. Her powerful and vulnerable roles has made her a household brand. Born to a renowned playwright father, but raised by a single mother who made a living in the field of nursing, she became interested in theatre while working with her father during the summer, eventually studying acting, first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree after which she made her TV debut in the next year. Since then, she's been in numerous films as well as TV and stage productions. In her professional career, she has won many awards, including her two Golden Globe Awards. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards and three Academy Award nominations. In spite of all the distinctions and awards, theater is her main interest and she will continue to perform on screen and stage.
